About Us

Cancer will impact one in two men and one in three women in their lifetime. In fact, every year 1.3 million Americans are diagnosed with cancer. Despite improved detection and treatment, 1,500 people will die from cancer today, and tomorrow, and the day after that. It’s a shocking fact that 30 percent of the cancers people are living with today are preventable, and another one-third of cancers are treatable if detected early.

The fight against cancer is not a battle that one group can take on alone. It will take the moral will and sacrifice of the scientific community, health care providers, public health practitioners, private industry, patient advocates, policymakers in Congress and the White House, and the public.

The fight against cancer starts with each and every one of us. It is ultimately about personal responsibility and collective will. I have seen first hand the hope and inspiration LIVESTRONG provides to people who need it most. My goal is to bring awareness of our battle to our community. As well as the help and support that many cancer patients and survivors need but don’t have access to right here at home.

Golden Triangle Supports LIVESTRONG

People throughout southeast Texas and all around the Lone Star State are uniting under the LIVESTRONG banner to support the fight against cancer. Led by cancer survivors and dedicated supporters, the Golden Triangle Supports LIVESTRONG’s mission is to:

  • Engage friends, families, co-workers, and community members to bring about local action in the fight against cancer
  • Support and work with State and local organizations to advocate for cancer-related issues
  • Support local organizations and institutions that do critical work fighting cancer and supporting survivors
  • Be a voice for the men, women, and children throughout our communities who have been affected by cancer
  • Unite people through experiences and programs to empower cancer survivors and people battling cancer
  • Participate in and hold local charity events to generate funding for the cancer fight
